Church History
It all began during Tennessee District Camp meeting when the Lord began to deal with Bro. & Sis Grimm about starting a Home Missions church. The Lord was leading them to East Tennessee. After a trip to East Tennessee, Johnson City seemed the place. Upon the approval of the Tennessee District United Pentecostal Church, Bro. &. Sis. Grimm were appointed as Home Missionaries to Johnson City, TN. After arriving Dec, 2000, they soon began to hold prayer services in their home. The Lord then led them to 405 E. Market St. were they began holding services. God has performed a number of miracles and the church began to grow. We now have a active growing church with an exciting children's ministry. January 1, 2003 we began renovating our new facility completing it May 1, 2003. Through hard work and sacrificial giving by Churches and pastors along with the support of the Tennessee District UPC and Home Missions we are continuing to enjoy growth and revival. Praise & Truth UPC is a place that is founded on heart felt worship and praise that teaches and preaches truth.
In 2005 acquired approximately 3.5 acres off of Interstate 26, on the corner of 11 Ave. E. and Baxter St. This is a beautiful piece of property. On June 13th 2009 we had our groundbreaking ceremony. On Monday June 15 we began construction. Through many miracles God has helped us complete our new church and on March 25 we had our last service on Broadway St. God is doing great things at Praise & Truth.
